Superstition
from Russia
It's an old country, so
we have a lot of superstitions. One of them is about mirrors.
Mirrors as associated with both bad and good luck.
Mirrors were invented
many years ago, and over the years people have developed a lot of
superstitions about broken mirrors.
In Russia, people say if
you look in a broken mirror, you'll have bad luck. They say if you
eat and look in a mirror at the same time, you will 'gorge' your
luck. If you drink at the same moment you look a mirror, you will
'guzzle' your luck.
In Russia, people say if
you look in a broken mirror, you'll have bad luck.
And, you had better not
look at a mirror while sitting on a commode. These things may not be
not true, but some people believe them, and so do I.
But in Russia, mirrors
are not associated only with bad luck. People say if you forget
something at home and have to go back for it, you'll have bad luck,
but if you look in a mirror when you go back, you'll have good luck.
All in all, if I were in
your shoes, I would be careful with a broken mirror. Even if it
doesn't bring you bad or good luck, you need to be careful because
you can cut yourself. Good luck and God help you.
